Belgian paper publishes SMS traffic Museeuw

BRUSSELS, Feb 5 (CP) - Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad has published the content of SMS-traffic between former Quickstep cyclist Johan Museeuw and veterinarian José Landuyt, who is said to have provided the rider with Aranesp, a modern and stronger version of EPO. Museeuw, who has already been suspended for four season, is set to appeal at a civil court. With the latest revelations, a positive outcome seems highly unlikely. During July and August of 2003, Museeuw and Landuyt are said to have had the following communication by SMS: July 2 2003 Landuyt: "I would take 80 to 100 wasps (Aranesp) now and another when departing in training. Then clean from 19/7. It has to be done in the inner tire (vein). Test your washing machine (device to test hematocrit value). Museeuw: "under the skin or in the nose?" Landuyt: "Always in the vein with wasp. Otherwise bingo. So definitely in the vein." July 27 2003 Museeuw: "I'm two above." Landuyt: "Take some salt and drink. The washing machine always calculates one or two higher than the real value. All ok?" Museeuw: "still 49." August 12 2003 Museeuw: Arrived (to Denmark) yesterday. Had control by WADA. 42 from Thursday afternoon, so no problem.
