COPENHAGEN, Oct 23 (CP) - Australian Bradley McGee will change teams for 2008. The 31-year-old will leave French outfit Francaise des Jeux in order to join fellow Pro Tour team CSC.
The rider put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Danish formation, thereby ending his ten-year stint with the French team.
McGee has always been a specialist on the track and in the time trials, but he has also experienced great success aside from those two disciplines.
On his palmarès you'll find victories on stages of the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia, the Dauphiné Libéré, the Tour de Suisse and the Tour de Romandie just to mention a few. Though, the last two seasons has been badly blighted by injuries for the Australian, something he hopes will change come next year.
"After ten years with the same team it is only natural that I should want to try something new", he told Team CSC's homepage. "The last two years have been very difficult for me because of an injury, which I've only just recovered from recently. I need a fresh start and I can have that with Team CSC. It's been my preferred team for quite some time and I'm really happy that Bjarne is giving me this opportunity. It's a strong team with a team spirit, which is definitely envied by others. I truly feel this is the right place for me to rediscover my former level – both physically and mentally and I'm just looking forward to embarking on a whole new chapter in my career now," said McGee.
