BRUSSELS, Aug 21 (CP) - Serge Baguet will retire from cycling after the current season. This was announced by his team Quickstep-Innergetic in a press release.

The 38-year-old turned pro in 1991 at the Lotto formation, but left the peloton from 1997 to 1999 due to bad results. In 2000 however, Baguet restarted his career at Lotto before moving to Quickstep last year.

In 2001, Baguet won a stage in the Tour de France, beating Piil and Lelli in a sprint of three. Four years later, he won the national championships on a hilly course.
