Wegmann beats peloton in Nürnberg

NÜRNBERG, Sep 16 (CP) - Home rider Fabian Wegmann is the winner of the 2007 edition of Rund um die Nürnberger Altstadt. The German champion beat fellow countryman Olaf Pollack for victory.

In the finale, a group of five tried to fight off the peloton. This group included Fabian Wegmann who chose the right moment to perform one last attack.

While the other four were caught by the pack, which was now racing at high speed, Wegmann fooled all by staying just ahead of the rest.

Pollack finished a second later, ahead of Sven Krauss and Stefan Heiny. With Nico Graf and Daniel Musiol following, the entire top six was occupied by home riders.
