STUTTGART, Sep 26 (CP) - Dutchman Lars Boom is the new U23 time trial champion, having won the race against the clock earlier on Wednesday.
Boom was one of the early starters, and the first rider to really clock a good time over the 38km course in Stuttgart, Germany.
The youngster, currently riding for the Rabobank Continental Team, completed this course in 48 minutes and 57 seconds.
Russian Mikhail Ignatiev was one of the last riders to arrive at the finish, and although he was ten seconds faster at the intermediate check, he had lost nineteen seconds in the second part.
Frenchman Jérôme Coppel took the bronze medal at 46 seconds from the winner, and the top five was completed by Dane Michael Christensen and Adriano Malori of Italy.
The elite time trial is scheduled for Thursday.
