LA TOUSSUIRE, Jun 10 (CP) - Iban Mayo has won the sixth stage of the Dauphiné Libéré. The Spaniard finished solo, one minute and 21 seconds ahead of his fellow countryman Alejandro Valverde. Gerolsteiner's Levi Leipheimer continues to be the overall leader. The riders had to complete a 169km long stage from Briançon to La Toussuire. During the day the men climbed four mountains. 100km before the finish Christophe Moreau attacked. He got away with 15 other riders including Discovery's George Hincapie. However the group was caught pretty fast because of a high pace set by Rabobank. On the penultimate climb of the day 4 Spaniards tried their luck. David Arroyo, Iban Mayo, Oscar Sevilla and ProTour leader Alejandro Valverde created a big gap. On the final climb Arroyo and Sevilla had to let go of their fellow escapees and five kilometers before the finish even Valverde could not keep up with Iban Mayo. One minute and 37 seconds behind Mayo, Levi Leipheimer finished in fifth place to maintain his leading position in the general classification. Stage results: 1. Iban Mayo (Esp-EUS) 5h01'42" 2.
