I don't think the current Dutch riders are able to compete with say the Belgians yet, but does one of them have a chance to actually try and win the Tour? Lately's it's been all about Thomas Dekker but are there others with a good chance?

Thomas Dekker is certainly a big talent, but it remains to be seen wether he can improve his climbing sufficiently to be able to win a GT. But there arenīt many others besides him. The only one I can see doing big things in a GT(not win one, but performing well) is Weening. But Weening isnīt that young longer, but heīs got the talent for sure.

I don't think a Dutchman or a Belgian can win a GT in the next five years. Neither does a Frenchman

Weening, T.Dekker, Reus, Gesink, Boom,  ... Cool

They really have some great talents now but it seems like they never manage to make the step to the top proffesional cyclists Sad

Stef Clement is developing faster that I ever would have tought.
He won the NC ITT ahead of guys like "the Dekkers" and Posthuma and was also very strong it the Giro earlier this year Cool

Rasmussen isn't Dutch though, he's Danish  Smiley.

But yes Dekker has been doing quite well lately, let's see how things are in the mountains. I wouldn't be surprised though if Rabobank still don't want him to give it his all, in order to allow him to prepare for the future slowly.

first of all, welcome on our forum Darren...

dekkers seems to be the best

Do you mean Hans Dekkers or Thomas Dekker Huh Because for me, Hans Dekkers isn't realy the best. He achieved some good results but he is not comparable with Thomas Dekker

He'll probably mean Thomas Dekker, who will have to replace riders as Erik Dekker and Michael Boogerd. Not easy!
Besides, he's the best Dutch overall contender atm.

I was hoping Theo Eltink would get a ride this year, but I guess his form wasn`t there. He impressed me some years ago, but has failed to live up to my expectations...

Yeah Eltink seemed very promissing, but i actually forgot him. Think it's because of his missing results. Lets hope he'll ride the vuelta, so we can see his current level and form.

Dekker had some problems with the Rabobank directors and will be riding for a different team next year.

Robert Gesink developped very fast and I'm looking forward to his Vuelta.
